1. Are you looking at the company itself or an AFFILIATE member trying to recruit agents?
This is important to consider because you want to be sure you are working with the fully accredited agency as you obtain information, rather than an affiliate. The affiliate is simply one person who has joined a company that focuses their attentions on recruiting new agents rather than helping those new agents to build a profitable travel business. The affiliate member will only be interested in "hooking" you to receive a referral fee. Watch out for any AFFILIATE company attempting to RECRUIT you! These affiliates are NOT accredited travel companies! They have no travel experience and can't offer you the assurance that your investment is in good hands. Always look for the company you sign with to be fully-accredited through IATAN, ARC, CLIA and members of ASTA (The American Society of Travel Agents). You can always contact ASTA for feedback and a host-agency referral (www.astanet.com) Remember, you're not looking for a MLM, you're looking for a true travel business!
2. Is the company reputable?
There are only a few reputable companies out there that offer a In-House-Agent business. Most are no name companies looking to increase their revenue while being unable to offer the training and infrastructure necessary to support an outside sales team. Others are as mentioned above, untrained, unstaffed "affiliates".
3. How is the company advertising? Positive or Negative information?
Any company (or individual) who goes out of their way to slander and defame their competition is one thing and one thing only:
DESPERATE!! As mentioned before, there are only a few legitimate In-House-Agent business offers out there today and they all originate with well established and reputable companies such as Inhouseagent.com.
